AmaZulu FC have bolstered their technical team with the arrival of former Mamelodi Sundowns analyst Sibusiso Makitla and former Royal AM goalkeeper coach Posnett Omony. These appointments on Tuesday, alongside the announcement of new player signings, underscore Usuthu’s proactive approach ahead of the new season.
Sibusiso Makitla joins AmaZulu as a performance analyst, stepping in after the brief departure of Tshepo Mahao. Makitla brings a wealth of experience, having previously worked under Rulani Mokwena during a successful period at Mamelodi Sundowns before their mutual departure before the 2024/25 season.
He spent last season with Moroccan Botola Pro giants Wydad Casablanca and, like other key backroom staff including Sinethemba Badela, Sibusiso Maulangu, Allan Freese, and Sean Louw, departed the club towards the end of the previous campaign. Makitla has already linked up with Usuthu during their pre-season camp in Polokwane, Limpopo, and was part of the team during the KZN Premier’s Cup in Richards Bay.
Meanwhile, the Durban-based outfit has also brought on board Posnett Omony as their new goalkeeper trainer, replacing Wendell Robinson, who recently departed Usuthu to reunite with Rulani Mokwena at Algerian club MC Alger.
Omony was unattached for a few months after his recent spell with Royal AM. He’s tasked with improving the goalkeeping department, which currently features Richard Ofori as coach Arthur Zwane’s first choice, alongside Darren Johnson and Olwethu Mzimela. Omony, like Makitla, was also with the club in Richards Bay for the KZN Premier’s Cup.
