AmaZulu FC’s Zimbabwean striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has explained the fundamental differences between his country’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) and that of South Africa.
The forward signed for Usuthu in July 2025 from former Castle Lager PSL champions FC Platinum.
The 22-year-old is competing for a starting berth upfront with other new strikers such as Ryan Moon, Keegan Allan, Darren Johnson, Liam Bern and Thapelo Matlhoko.
Having spent two months sampling South Africa’s PSL, Ngwenya is now fully acquainted with the style of play of the PSL which is also called the Betway Premiership.
The Warriors forward finally made an impact for Arthur Zwane’s team. He scored in the 1-1 draw against Magesi FC on August 30, 2025 in what was the last league game before the FIFA international break.
Ngwenya has since spoken of the differences between Zimbabwe and South Africa domestic leagues.
“Betway is different from the Zimbabwean League. It’s so fast and competitive, and I’m adjusting well. I think I’m going to score many goals,” he told the club’s website.
Ahead of AmaZulu’s next game against Stellenbosch FC at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday, the youthful striker has made it clear of their approach to the game.
“We’re going to fight for everything, we’re going to fight for a win, fight for our coach, fight for our fans,” the forward added.
Usuthu are going into the game while enjoying a three-game unbeaten run and sit in seventh place in the Betway Premiership standings.
A win for AmaZulu over Stellenbosch would see them jump up into the top-four.
