AmaZulu FC have signalled their intent for the second half of the Betway Premiership season by officially unveiling Zimbabwean defensive midfielder Mason Mushore.

The 23-year-old joins the Durban-based outfit on a permanent deal from Zimbabwean giants Highlanders FC, where he spent a highly productive year. The Harare-born midfielder arrives at a time when Arthur Zwane’s side is firmly in the hunt for the league title, currently sitting in fifth place—just four points adrift of leaders Orlando Pirates.

AmaZulu The “Zungu Seal of Approval” On Mushore

Usuthu President Sandile Zungu personally welcomed the lanky midfielder to the club, expressing high hopes for his immediate impact. Zungu drew comparisons to the success of another Zimbabwean export currently at the club, striker Thando Ngwenya.

“We welcome Mason to the AmaZulu family and are confident that he will add value and prove himself in our midfield,” Zungu stated.

Known for his composure and technical ball control, Mushore is expected to provide the defensive shield Zwane needs as the club navigates a congested fixture list in both the league and cup competitions.

For the player the move to the South African top flight represents a significant career milestone. The midfielder revealed that a personal conversation with the club president has already fueled his motivation to perform.

“I am grateful for the warm welcome I have already received,” Mushore noted. “Today, Mr Zungu personally welcomed me and told me that he believes in me and wants me to fight for the team.”

With 24 points from 14 matches, AmaZulu are enjoying one of their most competitive seasons in recent years. The addition of Mushore adds vital depth to a midfield that will be tasked with maintaining consistency as they chase their first-ever Premiership title.

Mushore is expected to begin training with the first team immediately as the squad prepares for the resumption of domestic football following the AFCON break.
