Former Harambee Stars striker Boniface Ambani has revealed his concerns about the rate at which goalkeepers in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League matches are conceding easy goals.
Ambani, who played for among other teams in the league, AFC Leopards, and Tusker, believes Kenyan keepers can never be compared to the previous crop saying they are simply killing their own careers.
“Kenyan goalkeepers and especially in the KPL, at the rate you're conceding goals, the rate you're letting in cheap goals is something you should watch. You're killing your own careers and seems you feel nothing about it,” said Ambani in a long post on his social media pages.
“It's a sad affair. I have seen several clips of different matches, it's so annoying... Wish you guys could have watched the likes of Ottamax, Francis Onyiso, David Wandabwa, Victor Onyango, Abbas, Washingtone Muhanji , Fwaya,Busolo, Duncan Ochieng, just to mention a few of them.”
He continued: “These guys had minimal mistakes. They left nothing to chance. Those names before you put a ball behind them, it was a hell of time. Sharp and bold. One on one situations were so difficult against them.
“You needed something very special to go past them. Kenyan keepers, call yourselves and ask yourself questions, scouts are watching you, and other club officials are watching you. You just need to wake up.”
