Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has discussed the departure of Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana insisting the pressure got the better of him.
The former Inter Milan goalkeeper completed a season-long loan move to Turkish Super Lig Trabzonspor last week, and in an interview. Amorim wished Onana all the best in his new club.
“Sometimes it’s hard to point out where things went wrong,” said the coach. “The performance, the moment, the bad luck in some moments was hard on him. I wish the best for Andre. He was really hard working and good at helping the players. But sometimes you need to change the environment.”
In a recent interview after leaving Man United, Onana said: “I am very happy. I can say that I am very happy. I am starting a new project, a new adventure for me, I am very happy to be here.
“This is a feeling that makes me so happy. I’ve never felt so much love from people around me. It’s a wonderful feeling to be made to feel at home from the very first moment.
“I want to start working as soon as possible and reciprocate that love by making them happy on the field. I’m always ready. Every player wants to play and take part in these kinds of matches. Of course, we’ll be playing against an important and strong opponent. But we’re also aware of our strength.”
