Kenya national team defender Amos Wanjala has signed with Valencia CF in Spain and will initially feature for the club’s reserve team, aiming to impress and earn a spot in the first team.
In a statement, the La Liga club confirmed: “Valencia CF has reached an agreement to incorporate Amos Wanjala into the VCF Mestalla squad.
“Amos Emmanuel Wanjala, 19, is a central defender who comes to the VCF Academy from Athletic Club Torrellano, where he has accumulated experience in the Third Federation, becoming part of the Valencian Selection that has participated in the UEFA Regions’ Cup.”
The statement added: “The new Valencia defender is a full international with Kenya and was captain of his country’s Under-20 team in the last Africa Cup of Nations for that age group.
“The signing of Amos Wanjala is VCF Mestalla’s first in this winter transfer window.”
Wanjala began his career in Kenya before moving to Spain to pursue his professional career. Wanjala has represented Kenya at both the U-18 and U-20 levels.
He captained the Kenya U20 national team during the 2024 CECAFA U-20 Championship[4] and at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Cairo.
On a few occasions he has been called up to the senior Kenya national team, Harambee Stars.
