Ghana forward Andre Ayew eager to help NAC Breda survive relegation

Ghana forward Andre Ayew has signed for Dutch Eredivisie club NAC Breda in the ongoing summer transfer window. Ayew has been without a club since leaving French Ligue 1 side Le Havre, and the 36-year-old has signed a deal to join NAC Breda for the rest of the 2025/26 season.

The former Swansea City FC forward said after his move: “I’m someone who really enjoys challenges, both personally and as part of a team. I find that here at NAC. I want to do everything I can to help the club and my teammates.

“We’re in a situation where staying in the Eredivisie is the only thing that matters. The mental aspect is perhaps the most important thing in this situation. Together with our supporters, we must fight this battle head-on in the second half of the season.”

Andre Ayew Joins NAC Breda

NAC Breda Technical Director Peter Maas gave rave reviews about Andre Ayew’s move to the club.

“Andre is eager to help NAC in their fight for survival. That’s become very clear from our conversations. We’re currently in a difficult position with NAC. Ayew has also faced some tough times in his career. He’s a true sportsman who takes good care of himself. We believe that with his experience and specific qualities, he can be of value to NAC right now.”

The 2011 BBC African Footballer of the Year winner arrives with huge international experience , having made 120 appearances for Ghana’s Black Stars.

His club experience includes stints at Olympique Marseille, Arles-Avignon, Lorient in the French before moves to England with Swansea City, West Ham United, Nottingham Forest.

He had stints with Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Qatari side Al Sadd.

The move to NAC Breda opens doors for his possible inclusion to Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad if he is racks up the needed minutes and goals.

Ayew becomes the third Ghanaian player to join NAC Breda after veteran Dennis Odoi and winger Kamal Sowah.

NAC Breda are at the bottom of the Dutch Eredivisie with 13 points from 17 matches in the season.
