Former Ghana captain Andre Ayew has eulogized ex-international Matthew Amoah following their reunion at Dutch side, NAC Breda.
Andre Ayew signed for the Eredivisie club for the rest of the season after ending his short spell with French Ligue 1 club Le Havre.
His move to the club has sparked conversations of his possible inclusion into the Ghana squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico.

Ayew, who has over 100 caps for the four time Africa champions, gave positive vibes about Matthew Amoah.
“For me I want him to know that he is somebody that I have always admired in my growing days as a player and not as a player because in the national team I got to know him as a person,” Andre Ayew told NAC Breda media outlet.
“He is somebody I respect a lot and I admire him as a person, I see him as a senior man as I say not just words but it’s real but then I am very proud to be here with you and I hope that we will enjoy this moment and keep the club that we have the badge on our chest now in this league.”
Matthew Amoah joined the technical team of his former club NAC Breda alongside former teammate Anouar Diba.
Amoah who played for the Black Stars at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, downplayed the notion that his presence at the club influenced the signing of Andre Ayew.
“Even me I was surprised when they told me [about signing Andre Ayew] because it’s rumours that it’s because of me that’s why Andre Ayew is here. Of course I will say it’s because of me because he watched my video where I played for NAC and the respect that they have for me.
“And he also thought that it’s a good club and I played here and they know some of the Ghanaians. They asked me whether he is fit because I saw his videos sometimes training with his dad and some former Ghanaian players like Mubarak Wakasu, Kassim Adams and I said he is fit but he is nit game fit because if I look at him I cannot see any fat in him so one hundred percent fit so if you ask me which role I played, not much but the coaches did.
Ayew has already made two appearances for NAC Breda since joining the side. The club’s next fixture is against giants PSV Eindhoven on Saturday, January 24 as they battle relegation.
