After suffering relegation from the Turkish Super Lig last season with Bodrumspor, Angola national team captain and playmaker Fredy is on fire to begin the 2025-26 season in the second tier of Turkish football.
The 35-year-old showed off his set piece expertise on Friday as Bodrumspor came back from a deficit to defeat Adana Demirspor by a 3-1 score. Both of Fredy’s goals came from dead ball situations, the first arriving in the 39th minute when his free kick service from out wide snuck through the crowd to level the match.
Pedro Brazao’s early second half goal put hosts Bodrumspor ahead and it was their star player who finished the job late on. After a questionable penalty went in favor of his team, Fredy showed no remorse with a well placed penalty kick to put the result beyond doubt.
Fredy now has a remarkable record of five goals in five matches along with an assist so far this season for undefeated Bodrumspor. Now on a three-match winning streak after drawing their first two matches, the club now sits in second place on the TFF 1. Lig.
Now in his eighth season in Turkish football, Fredy continues to be an essential player for the Angola national team. The Palancas Negras captain scored in a 3-1 victory against to conclude the September FIFA window but despite his best efforts, Angola are eliminated from contention to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Fredy contributed two goals during Angola’s failed campaign, which concludes in October.
Fredy and Bodrumspor are next in action on Tuesday when they begin play in the Turkish Cup against fourth tier side Tire 2021 FK.
