Flavio: Petro de Luanda.
Petro de Luanda coach Flavio Amado says his team will be out to wrap up the Girabola league title when they meet Premiere de 1ª de Agosto at the 11 de Novembro Stadium on Saturday.
Flávio Amado told Petro de Luanda media that his players are determined to retain the title for the fourth consecutive season in Angola’s top-flight league.
“Our goal is to become champions in tomorrow’s [Saturday’s] game. We are working hard to achieve this and counting on our fans' unconditional support,” he added.
Striker Pedro Aparício echoed Flavio's remarks: “We will give everything on the field to win the match and make tomorrow a memorable day for us and the fans. We are focused on the game that is expected with great anticipation.”
The former Angolan international replaced Ricardo Chéu, who was sacked two weeks ago following the Luanda-based team’s elimination from the Angolan Cup quarter-final on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
Flavio has since presided over one game, leading Petro de Luanda to a win. The Luanda-based side cannot be displaced from the top if they win on Saturday.
Flavio is a cult-hero at Petro de Luanda after playing for them between 1999 and 2005, before signing for Al Ahly SC in Egypt, where his status as an African great for club and country was elevated.
Now aged 45, the clean-shaven man scored 34 goals in 84 national team appearances before venturing into coaching, starting with Petro de Luanda's youth side.
