Napoli have been dealt a major blow after confirming that the Cameroonian midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa has suffered a serious muscle injury while on international duty with Cameroon.

In an official statement, the club announced:

“Frank Zambo Anguissa, injured in the national team, underwent instrumental tests today at the Pineta Grande Hospital which showed a high-grade injury to the femoral biceps of the left thigh. The footballer has already begun the rehabilitation process.”

The diagnosis means Anguissa will be sidelined for more than a month, which confirms his absence from the World Cup playoffs this month and at least the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations next month in Morocco.

The 29-year-old midfielder—who will turn 30 on Sunday—has been one of Napoli’s most consistent performers this season, appearing in 15 matches across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists. His performances in October earned him the title of Serie A Player of the Month.
