Ever since his massive transfer to Arsenal back before the 2019-20 season, Nicolas Pépé continues to be an enigma capable of captivating and frustrating supporters of the clubs he plays for. For the second week in a row, however, Villarreal CF supporters saw the version of Pépé who can be such a dynamic star on his best day.
La Liga club jumped on Osasuna early and often on Saturday in a 4-2 victory. After Ayoze Perez opened the scoring in the 2nd minute for The Yellow Submarine, it was now time for Pépé to take over. The Ivorian set up Thierno Barry's goal in the 33rd minute with a sublime pass that was weighted perfectly for the Frenchman to finish.
Six minutes later, Pépé set up another goal when he was played in behind on the right wing in the 39th minute. Gathering his balance, Pépé stayed calm and played a low cross for Perez who was left with a routine finish in the penalty area.
Pépé wrapped up his Man of the Match performance with a goal to complete a fantastic performance. Alex Baena got to the end line on the left wing and his floated cross found a waiting Pépé who kept his header low from close range to erase any hopes of a comeback from Osasuna.
Pépé now has a goal and three assists in his last two matches after setting up the lone goal in Villarreal's 1-0 victory against Espanyol the week before. He has two goals and five assists in 24 matches this season for Villarreal, who are in 5th place on a quest to secure UEFA Champions League football next season.
