Antoine Semenyo speaks out on fairytale run at Man City

Ghana international Antoine Semenyo opened up on his performance so far for new club Manchester City after he was among the goals in a 3-0 Premier League victory against Fulham at Etihad on Wednesday.

The Black Star has five goals in eight appearances since his January move to the Etihad from Bournemouth, opening the scoring against the Cottagers in rainy Manchester with an instinctive poke from close-range after 24 minutes.

After being held at bay through the opening twenty minutes, it was Semenyo, who put the Cityzens in front with an opportunistic finish when Fulham failed to clear a cross into the penalty area.

Six minutes later, it was 2-0 in favor of the hosts. Nico O’Reilly recovered a loose ball in the midfield and found Semenyo on the left wing. The former Bournemouth star’s return pass found O’Reilly who made no mistake with his finish past Fulham keeper Bernd Leno.

‘It’s all a fairytale right now’

“[There’s] no secrets! It’s just being part of a great team, a great environment, the coach has been great and they’ve made it easy for me to settle. It’s all a fairytale right now,” Semenyo told Man City website after the game.

“[It was] very important [to win]. That was the message from when the game was done against Liverpool. Just backing up what we did on the weekend, it was a tough graft and we got the three points, today we did the same thing. I’m happy.

“He [O’Reilly] has got that in the locker. He’s a very technical player. When I slid him in I knew he was going to score.”

Semenyo will next face League Two side Salford

On the winning cutting Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table to three points, Semenyo said: “It’s new to me. I’m enjoying it. But obviously It comes with a lot of pressure and demands. We have the team to do it. We just need to keep going.

“Just going to sit tight and watch the game tomorrow and hopefully it goes our way so let’s see.”
