The former Bristol City attacker joined Manchester City from AFC Bournemouth in the January transfer window and has gone on to score five goals in eight English Premier League appearances under Spanish boss Pep Guardiola.

The award is the Black Stars player’s first ever after striking three goals, one assist in five consecutive Premier League outings in February.

The 26-year-old scored a goal each in the Sky Blues 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur, the 3-0 home win over Fulham and the slim 1-0 triumph at Elland Road against Premier League returnees Leeds United.

The former Newport County and Sunderland forward shared his joy after claiming the award.

“This is a brilliant moment for me. To win the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget,” Semenyo said on Man City’s website after winning the award.

“My focus now is on continuing to improve and helping City to achieve the best possible results. We have so much to play for and I am really excited about this final period of the season.”

Semenyo, who is capped 32 times with just three goals to his credit for the four time African champions, becomes just the third Ghanaian to win the award burley striker after Tony Yeboah in March and September 1995 for Leeds and former captain Andre Ayew in August 2015 while playing for Swansea City.
