Arokodare urged to work hard despite opening Wolves account in Everton win

Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare has been prevailed upon to work hard and get his condition after he scored his first goal for the Premier League club in a 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Everton at Molineux Stadium on Tuesday.

In an all Premier League third round fixture, Wolves progressed through to the fourth round after seeing off the Toffees. Zimbabwean star Marshall Munetsi scored the opener, before Arokodare, came off the bench to seal the outcome.

Arokodare’s first for the club then put the victory beyond doubt in the dying moments, earning Wolves both their second win and first clean sheet of the season. The Super Eagle joined Wolves from Belgian side KRC Genk on a four-year contract with the option of a further one year in a deal worth £23.4 million.

Arokodare has the confidence in himself

Reviewing Arokodare’s first goal, Wolves manager Vitor Pereira said as quoted by the club’s official website: “When we are expecting a strong shot on the goal, because he has the confidence in himself. Of course, he is not in his shape physically speaking. Larsen today worked a lot for the team, and after Tolu went inside and he helped us. This is the spirit that I want to see.

“Tolu came in the moment that we didn’t have Jorgen to play. The plan was not to play with him 90 minutes, the plan was to give him time to adapt and to start getting minutes. He needs to work hard to get his condition, and he will help us.”

The Nigerian will hope to make starting XI when Wolves return to action with a Premier League fixture against Tottenham on Saturday.
