AS Vita Club turns to Ngatsono after disappointing Linafoot campaign

DR Congo club AS Vita Club has named Barthelemy Ngatsono as their new head coach. The Kinshasa-based club struggled in the 2024/25 Linafoot season with an eighth place finish and parted ways with Franco-Tunisian coach Saber Jabria.

Ngatsono is not a stranger to the DR Congolese football scene, as he previously handled DC Motema Pembe. The 69-year-old Congo-Brazzaville native recently led his country during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), where they were eliminated in the group stages. Ngatsono signed a one-year deal with VClub.

VClub wrapped up the Championship group in eighth place with 18 points last season. Ngatsono will be tasked with bringing the glory days back to the Kinshasa giants in the coming new season. The club’s last league triumph was in the 2020/21 season.

AS Vita Club will kick off the new season at home on October 22 against Étoile de Kivu.
