Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Fredrick Asare has thrown light on how the playing body had to adapt to the style of new coach Abdul Karim Zito.
Zito replaced University of Cape Coast lecturer, Prosper Narteh Ogum after a topsy-turvy outing in the first half of last season. Asare made the assertions after the Porcupine Warriors stunned lower-tier side Golden Kick FC 2-1 to win the FA Cup on Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Despite the lack of game time under Zito, Asare believes that adapting to Coach Zito’s style was not difficult.
“I think with them, they have almost the same style of play, so the transition wasn’t that difficult,” the former WAFA goalkeeper told Citi Sports.
“We had to adapt to their style of play, which was very similar, so we didn’t find it that much difficult because we were willing to do something for ourselves also,” he added.
The victory is Asante Kotoko’s 10th FA Cup title and they will represent the country in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup, a competition they are yet to win.
