The Porcupine Warriors signed the defensive midfielder from the Abrankese based club in a three-year deal after a successful medical examination.
The two-time African club champions are gunning for a record 26th Ghana Premier League title as they currently occupy the top spot on 30 points from 16 matches.
Prince Badu becomes the first signing for coach Karim Zito who explained the rationale behind the acquisition of the former Bechem United midfielder.
“We felt it was very important to strengthen the defensive midfield area. At the moment, we have only one natural defensive midfielder, and we also have to carefully manage the minutes of Lawson Manu, who is still a young player.
“Prince gives us the balance we need. He understands the league, he’s tactically disciplined, and he will help us maintain intensity and stability in midfield over the remainder of the season and the next few years.” Karim Zito told scasantekotoko.com.
Speaking about his move, Prince Badu once featured for Ghana’s second tier side Bofoakwa said: “Joining Kotoko is a big moment for me. This is the biggest club in the country, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. I know the expectations are high here, but that’s what motivates me as a player. I’m ready to work hard, learn, and give my best whenever I’m called upon. I want to help the team in any way I can and grow with the club over the next few years.”
The 25-year-old is expected to bolster the midfield set up of Asante Kotoko who share the top spot with Medeama on 30 points with Medeama likely to topple them if they win or draw against reigning champions GoldStars in their week 14 outstanding fixture on Wednesday. Prince Badu will wear the number 44 jersey as he begins his journey with the Porcupine Warriors.
