The 2025 Senegal Cup semifinal has taken a new twist after the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) declared ASC Jaraaf as finalists following Builders FC’s use of an ineligible player. Third division side Builders FC was initially set to play the final against giants Génération Foot after defeating Jaraaf 5-3 in a penalty shootout, but the result has now been overturned in favor of Jaraaf.
According to Wiwsport, the FSF stated there was an irregularity concerning player Cyprien Thiombane, who was fielded by Builders FC. Jaraaf filed a complaint against Thiombane, alleging the player possesses multiple identities. Due to contradictory information in Thiombane’s FIFA CONNECT files, the FSF ruled in favor of Jaraaf and disqualified Builders FC from the Senegal Cup semifinal.
Builders FC manager Mamadou Papa Gueye Diop has threatened to escalate the case to CAF and FIFA. Quoted by Wiwsport, Diop said they will appeal to all relevant bodies in order to reach the final. “It was not us who cheated. It is Jaraaf who is now trying everything to have our victory, earned through sport and merit, annulled. We have filed an appeal with the competent committee. If necessary, we will contact the CNOSS, the Ministry of Sports, and if needed, we will go as far as CAF or FIFA. We want the truth to be reestablished and our victory recognized.”
The Senegal Cup final will be held at the Stade Abdoulaye-Wade. The winner will represent Senegal in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup. Jaraaf has won the cup a record 16 times.
