ASC Jaraaf sweep Senegal Ligue 1 awards after historic league triumph

The Player of the Season and Coach of the Year awards in Senegal’s Ligue 1 went to the champions ASC Jaraaf. Jaraaf won the league for the first time since 2018 just a week ago.

Issaga Kane won Player of the Season. The 22-year-old midfielder joined Jaraaf in 2023 following an unsuccessful spell at Spanish club Granada U-19. The former Senegal youth international had an exceptional season at Jaraaf. His presence in central midfield helped the Dakar club clinch the title and reach the group stages of the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup.

Malick Daf was voted Coach of the Season after guiding Jaraaf to the Senegal league title. Jaraaf last won the league under his leadership. The 56-year-old trainer previously coached the Senegal U-20 side to an African crown.

Jaraaf will be representing Senegal in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League. Daf is expected to stay for another season, while Kane might be hoping to make an impact and secure his dream transfer back to Europe.
