Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has committed her future to Saudi Arabia club, Al-Ittihad Ladies.

Plumptre extended her stay with the Saudi Arabian club for two-years, the club announced on Monday, February 10. The 26-year-old joined Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023 after her contract with Leicester City Women expired.

Since her move Saudi Arabia, she has been a star performer in the Women’s Premier League, swiftly rising to become team captain.

She made her presence felt with a debut hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Eastern Flame. This season, Plumptre has made 10 appearances, starting eight, and has contributed two goals, an assist, and five clean sheets.

After playing a key role in helping Nigeria qualify for the Olympics for the first time in 16 years, she was sidelined due to surgery, missing the 2024 Games in France.

However, the defender made a strong comeback in October 2024, returning to full fitness and continuing to lead Al-Ittihad on the pitch.

Despite her return to fitness, Plumptre has yet to fully reclaim her spot in the Super Falcons lineup. She was called up for an international friendly against France, which Nigeria lost 2-1, marking her first appearance since her injury.

Plumptre could be an important addition for coach Justin Madugu’s side at the 2025 WAFCON which will take place in Morocco.
