Atalanta targets Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare to bolster attack

Following the departure of Italian forward Mateo Retegui to Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah, Serie A side Atalanta has reportedly identified Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare as their primary target to lead their attacking line-up.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, this move comes as Atalanta prepares for a demanding 2025/26 season, which includes a campaign in the UEFA Champions League.

Arokodare, currently with Belgian side Genk, is coming off a phenomenal season in the Belgian Pro League. The 23-year-old was a dominant force, scoring 23 goals and providing five assists across all competitions, which saw him clinch the league’s Golden Boot.

His stellar performance has solidified his reputation as one of Europe’s most promising young strikers.

While Atalanta considers Arokodare their primary target, Genk is reportedly demanding a fee believed to be in the region of €25 million to part ways with their star forward.

Multiple clubs across Europe, including Fulham, AC Milan, and Borussia Dortmund, are also monitoring the Super Eagles forward’s situation.

Arokodare heads a three-man shortlist as Atalanta intensifies its search for a new striker. Fulham’s Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz and Lecce’s Nikola Krstovic are also under consideration.
