Atletico Madrid bids farewell to Rasheedat Ajibade

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade will leave Spanish Liga F club Atletico Madrid at the end of the 2024/25 season as the Nigerian's contract is set to expire this summer.



The club announced that both parties have mutually agreed to part ways. Ajibade will depart alongside teammates Marta Cardona, Ainhoa Moraza, and Merle Berth.


Speaking on their X handle, Atletico Madrid wrote that Ajibade some of their current players won't be with them for next season


“Our players Cardona, Ajibade, Moraza, and Barth will not continue as Red and White next season and will bid farewell to the fans on Sunday at Alcalá."


The 25 year old joined Atletico Madrid in January 2021 from Norwegian club Avaldsnes IL. Since her arrival, she has been a significant figure in the team, known for her versatility, tireless work rate, and impactful contributions in both attack and midfield.

Throughout her tenure, Ajibade has consistently been a key player for Atletico Madrid, often stepping up in important matches and contributing to their competitive efforts in the Liga F and other cup competitions with 40 goals in 138 appearances for the club. Her departure marks the end of an influential spell for the Nigerian international, leaving a noticeable gap in the team's dynamics and offensive prowess.


Ajibade leaves the Spanish side having won two trophies with the club, the Supercopa de España in 2021 and Copa de la Reina in 2023
