Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman from Italian club Atalanta.
According to the Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Atlético Madrid is seriously considering signing Lookman, but not for the significant sum Atalanta is seeking to offload the striker. Atalanta wants €60 million for the striker while Atlético Madrid is only looking to pay €40 million.
Lookman is considered a target for Atlético Madrid at the special request of Argentinian coach Diego Simeone, due to the player’s unique qualities and individual abilities that benefit the team. Lookman’s contract with Atalanta expires in the summer of 2027, and he joined the team in the summer of 2022 from Leicester City.
The Nigerian international has appeared in 118 matches for the Italian team, scoring 52 goals and providing 25 assists. He also has 8 goals in 29 appearances for the Nigeria national team.
