Sudan national side coach Kwesi Appiah has summoned two players based in Australia for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounters against Senegal and South Sudan. Winger Amar Abdallah and center back Jamal Ali received their first call up to the Falcons of Jediane.

Both players stated they are happy to join the national team ahead of the crucial ties. Abdallah, born in Kassala, had a chance to represent Eritrea but opted to join Sudan. The 25-year-old player stated he is enjoying his moment with the national side:

“The feeling is indescribable, honestly. We, the players and I, have long dreamed of representing Sudan and wearing Sudan's emblem. God willing, we produce everything we can to bring joy to the Sudanese people.”

26-year-old Ali plays his club football for Heidelberg United in Australia's second tier National Premier League in Victoria state. The defender acknowledged the game against Senegal will be a tough one: “The match against Senegal is difficult but not impossible. We ask God for good luck and to come out with a result that helps us qualify for the World Cup.”

Both players were second half substitutes when Sudan played out a goalless draw against Oman in a warm up game on Thursday. But their chances of starting a game will be a difficult task as Appiah will likely favor more experienced players over them.

Sudan currently tops Group B with 10 points, two ahead of second placed Senegal ahead of an important clash that will take place in the Sudanese team's adopted home of Benghazi, Libya on March 22.
