Aziz Issah remains focused despite failed Barcelona move

Rising talent Abdul Aziz Issah has targeted more playing time for parent club Dreams FC after the Ghana under-20 national team star failed to secure a permanent move to Barcelona.

The 19-year-old, who had a patchy loan spell at Barcelona B, is currently back at Dreams FC but is expected to seal a move away this transfer window. Despite managing just 26 minutes of game time during his loan stint in Spain, he was one of the bright spots for Ghana during the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Aziz Issah is now looking to capitalize on his senior debut, a substitute appearance at the recent Unity Cup in Ghana’s 4-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago, to help revive his confidence.

“After this debut, I think it is time to stay focused. It is time to get more playing time and more games at my club level, and I think everything will be fine if I do well with my team,” Aziz Issah told Ghana Football Association media.

“I feel very good; it’s a dream come true. Every player in Ghana wants to play for the Black Stars,” Aziz said. “Playing for the senior national team from the U-20 level is a great achievement. I feel very proud and very happy for that.”

“It was full of excitement when the coach told me I would be coming on. Even though I was nervous, I was happy for the opportunity. I wanted to do well and prove myself.”

Aziz believes that consistent performances at club level will open more doors internationally. His recent debut for the Black Stars in the friendly against Trinidad and Tobago has boosted his profile and confidence.
