Moroccan club Wydad AC has announced the death of the son of their midfielder and Burkina Faso international, Stephane Aziz Ki, in a tragic development.
Aziz Ki is currently with the Burkina Faso national team camp during their participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
In an official statement, Wydad AC said:
“With great sadness and sorrow, Wydad Athletic Club extends its sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies to our player Aziz Ki on the passing of his son.”
The statement added:
“We ask Almighty God to grant the deceased His vast mercy, admit him into His spacious Paradise, and bestow patience and comfort upon his family and loved ones.”
According to media reports, Aziz Ki will leave the Burkina Faso camp to attend his son’s funeral and receive condolences.
Some reports indicated that the child passed away after suffering a head injury during a football match, where he hit his head on the ground.
Burkina Faso are set to face Ivory Coast in the Round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Aziz Ki made a substitute appearance for Burkina Faso in their opening group-stage match against Equatorial Guinea at AFCON 2025.
