South Africa national football team striker Lyle Foster faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after a shoulder injury while playing for Burnley FC on Tuesday.
Foster was substituted in the second half of a Sky Bet Championship game between Burnley FC and Derby County, a potential blow for Bafana Bafana ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers this September against Lesotho.
Clarets coach Scott Parker has since pressed the panic button over the injury of the former Orlando Pirates forward who was forced off after coming on. Parker told Burnley FC media that it doesn't look positive for the South African forward.
"It was his shoulder. It doesn't look good, to be honest with you, so we'll find out a little bit more. We'll scan him first thing tomorrow [Wednesday] morning, and we'll have a bit more of a clearer idea, but the early part is he doesn't look too good," he said.
The result sees Burnley 28 games unbeaten in the Sky Bet Championship and a 29th clean sheet of the campaign secured, which Parker described as exceptional.
Foster returned to action last December after recovering from a knee injury suffered in Bafana Bafana colours in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Foster joined Burnley in 2023 on a four-and-a-half-year contract from KVC Westerlo in Belgium. The Clarets lie second in the log table at par on points with leaders Leeds United. Goal aggregate separates the two teams.
