This impressive win followed a disappointing goalless draw against Tanzania at the same venue in the first friendly last Friday.
Sinoxolo Kwayiba, reportedly on the verge of joining Orlando Pirates, opened the scoring for Bafana in the 46th minute. Ashley Cupido then sealed the victory in the 69th minute, just minutes after coming off the bench.

These were the first goals for both Kwayiba and Cupido in a Bafana jersey. Pirates youngster Mohau Nkota had a brilliant game as he played a pivotal role, assisting both goals. But it was Kwayiba who walked away with the Man of the Match award for his efforts.
The victory extended Bafana’s unbeaten run against Mozambique to six games in international friendlies, with the Mambas’ last win in this fixture dating back to 2009.
Bafana controlled the game from start to finish, creating numerous clear-cut chances that could have seen them score more. Hugo Broos’ troops had 20 shots at goal with 11 on target.
Mozambique struggled to trouble the Bafana defence, a performance that will undoubtedly please Coach Hugo Broos as he continues preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
This was not a full-strength Bafana side, as Mamelodi Sundowns players were unavailable due to their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA.
Coach Broos made a remarkable 11 changes from the Tanzania match, showcasing a host of new faces. This included debuts for Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi, who partnered captain Nkosinathi Sibisi in defence, as well as starting debuts for Samukele Kabini and Yanela Mbuthuma.
With several new players impressing in both matches, Broos now has a wider pool of talent and a welcome selection headache for his upcoming AFCON squad.
