Bajaber vows to regain form with Kenya at FIFA Series in Rwanda

After having less playing time with Simba SC, Kenya national team midfielder Mohammed Bajaber has vowed to use Harambee Stars opportunity to regain his form when they participate in the 2026 FIFA Series in Rwanda.

The youngster has not seen enough playing time since making his switch from Kenyan Premier League champions Kenya Police FC to the Msimbazi outfit.

Despite his lack of game time in Tanzania, Kenya coach Benni McCarthy included the player in Harambee Stars’ squad for the FIFA Series.

‘I am dealing with the injury’

“That’s football. You have the highest of highs at one point in your career, and suddenly a year later you are pretty low, low,” said Bajaber as quoted by Mozzart Sports.

“I can’t really say too much, but obviously I am dealing with the injury and hopefully trying to get back to my best.”

He added: “Of course it is an opportunity. I haven’t been playing, so I am looking at it as a chance to redeem myself, not just with Kenya, but physically as well, it is a big chance.”

On McCarthy’s decision to recall him, he said: “His trust in me means a lot. Every time somebody gives you a chance, not just to come and represent your national team, but also everyday life, you have to be grateful, and I am.”

The FIFA Series will take place from March 27, and Kenya have been drawn to face Estonia at the Amahoro Stadium.

Harambee Stars’ second match in the mini-tournament will depend on the outcome of the other opening fixture between Rwanda and Grenada.

The 2026 FIFA Series will be the second edition of the FIFA Series, an invitational Association football tournament promoted by FIFA that features friendly matches between national teams from different continental confederations.

Under the tournament format, the winner of Match 1 will face the winner of Match 2, while the loser of Match 1 will play the loser of Match 2. The FIFA Series presents a unique opportunity for Kenya to test themselves against opponents from different confederations.
