Nigerian defender Leon Balogun has voiced his delight following Rangers recent home victory over Aberdeen on Sunday, a win that halted their frustrating streak of winless matches at Ibrox.

The Gers snapped a seven-game home drought with a dominant second-half performance featuring goals from Vaclav Cerny, Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers, Hamza Igamane, and Jefte.

After the match, Rangers defender Balogun expressed on the club's official website that it was a feel good moment for the players to end the winless streak.

“It’s been seven games without a win at Ibrox, which is nothing to be proud of. That’s why it feels good to finally lift that weight off our shoulders.”

Reflecting on the match, the Nigerian defender felt the team was in control but admitted there was still untapped potential.

“From start to finish, it was a fairly comfortable performance. But the gaffer told us at half-time that there was more to give — an extra 10 to 15 percent — and we pushed harder in the second half. You could see what we're capable of.”

While pleased with the clean sheet, Balogun acknowledged the team’s challenges throughout the season.

“It’s been a while since we kept a clean sheet, so I’ll take the positives. We’re aware of the negatives — we’re not blind to them and we won’t ignore them — but our focus is now on moving forward.”

Looking ahead, Balogun urged his teammates to maintain their form in the final two matches of the season.

“Wednesday will be our last game at Ibrox this season, and we owe the fans, who’ve been incredible, a strong finish. It’s been a tough ride for them. After that, we go to Hibs, and we need to put in the same kind of performance.”

Rangers are set for a 2nd place finish in the Scottish Premiership and will have the chance to make it back-to-back wins at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow when they welcome Dundee United on Wednesday.
