After only two matches of the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League season, Bandari FC have become the first team to fire a coach.
The Mombasa-based Dockers confirmed they had parted ways with head coach Ken Odhiambo with assistant John Baraza being elevated to take charge on an interim basis.
A statement from the club confirmed: “Bandari has, with immediate effect, appointed John Baraza as the interim head coach. Baraza has been serving as the assistant coach of the club and will now take charge of the team until a permanent head coach is appointed.
The statement added: “Bandari appreciates the former head coach, Ken Odhiambo, for his contribution to the team and wishes him success in his next role.”
Bandari kicked off their campaign with a 0-0 draw against Kariobangi Sharks before losing their first home game 1-0 against Shabana FC. They are currently lying 13th on the 18-team league table with a single point.
Bandari’s next assignment will see them take on Murang’a Seal on Saturday before the league takes a break for the FIFA international break where Kenya’s Harambee Stars will play two matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and Ivory Coast.
