South Africa's senior women’s football team will fine-tune against neighbours Lesotho later this month ahead of their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title defence.
Banyana Banyana entertain Lesotho on February 22 and three days later as part of a nine-day camp training, according to the South African Football Association (SAFA) website.
Coach Dr Desiree Ellis would be seeking to see improvements from results of last year’s warm up matches that saw them lose thrice in a row, including the last two in Jamaica.
The WAFCON holders are playing friendlies with an eye on the title defence at the continental competition in Morocco from 5–26 July 2025. Ellis has since said she will use the opportunity to also widen her pool of players in the buildup to WAFCON.
The Banyana Banyana coach will announce her squad on Thursday, 6 February 2025, according to SAFA.
