Banyana must put game plan in place against Ghana in WAFCON opener – Ellis

Banyana Banyana coach Dr Desiree Ellis has revealed their readiness to kick off their 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) when they take on Ghana at the Honneur Stadium in Oujda, Morocco on Monday.

South Africa will be defending the crown they won in 2022 and apart from Ghana’s Black Queens, they have been pooled alongside Mali and Tanzania.

“We’ve done a lot of analysis, and I’m sure they’ve also done analysis on us too, if you’re not ready now then we have a problem. We came to Morocco early to prepare, and we are now ready for the game,” said Ellis ahead of the opener.

“It’s just about using the plans, it’s about making sure that if the one plan doesn’t work, we have another plan and another plan and another plan…. We just need to put our game plan in place and make sure that we get the result we want.”

The Ghanaians return to the women’s continental competition after an absence of seven years – the last time they featured was back in 2018 when they were playing hosts.
