Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has announced a preliminary 46-member squad as the team begins its preparations for the upcoming Women's Africa Cup of Nations, set to be staged in Morocco.

From the announced 46-player provisional squad, 24 locally based players will be the first to gather for a training camp in Johannesburg in mid-June 2025. They will later be joined by the overseas-based players.

It is from this combined group that coach Ellis will ultimately select her final 21 players for the WAFCON tournament.

The final 21-player Banyana Banyana squad will be officially announced on June 23, 2025, in Johannesburg, with the team departing for Morocco shortly thereafter.

As the African champions, Banyana Banyana find themselves in Group C of the tournament. Their WAFCON campaign kicks off on Monday, July 7, 2025, against Ghana at the Honneur Stadium in Oujda.

Oujda will serve as South Africa's base throughout the group stages. Following their opening match, Banyana Banyana will face Tanzania on Friday, July 11, and conclude their group stage fixtures against Mali on Monday, July 14, 2025.

The CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations will run from July 5 to July 26, 2025, in Morocco. The tournament officially begins on Saturday, July 5, 2025, with the opening match featuring hosts Morocco and Zambia at the newly constructed Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
