Zambia women’s national team captain Barbra Banda says she is looking forward to meeting hosts South Africa’s Banyana Banyana during the ongoing three-nation tournament.
The Orlando Pride striker said meetings against Desiree Ellis’ team offer her a platform for learning.
“They won the WAFCON, so they are the best. So, I always feel good to play the best because I still want to learn from the best. So, it’s a good game for me,” she told Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) media.
“We are playing Botswana and South Africa, which are all good teams, good players, and good quality, so it’s a good three-nation tournament. It always feels great to play with the best.”
The Copper Queens get their tournament going with a meeting against Botswana on Saturday, 31 May at Lucas Moripe Stadium before tussling against the hosts on Tuesday, 3 June.
The Mares of Botswana started the tournament with a 3-2 loss to Banyana Banyana on Wednesday. The three teams are fine-tuning for WAFCON to be held in Morocco from 5 to 26 July.
