Bayelsa Queens, Nasarawa Amazons lead Super Six race

Bayelsa Queens continued their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) as they defeated Remo Stars Ladies 2-0 in the last match day three match of 2025 Super Six, handing the debutants first defeat in the tournament on Tuesday.
Having previously defeated Edo Queens and Naija Ratels at Ikenne, Remo Stars Ladies succumbed to superior and more experience firepower from the Bayelsa ladies.
Meanwhile, Bayelsa Queens came into the 2025 Super Six with an unbeaten record and started their campaign with a victory against Rivers Angels before drawing with Nasarawa Amazons.
It only took the Prosperity Girls 12 minutes to take the lead as Chinwe Akabike netted the opener, then Sefiat Idris doubled the for her side as she scored arguably the goal of the tournament so far in the playoffs in the twenty-five minute. Bayelsa Queens now have seven points from three games as they are yet to taste defeat.
Meanwhile, Nasarawa Amazons also continued their impressive run at the ongoing NWFL Super Six in Ikenne by beating Rivers Angels by 2-1.
A brace from Jenat Akekeromowei in the first half of the match was all the solid babes need to keep their unbeaten streak going. However, Catherine Kenneth scored the consolation for Rivers Angels in the second half of the game, but the most decorated NWFL side could not pull out a comeback out of their hat.
Nasarawa Amazons are now on seven points, are now leveled on points with Bayelsa Queens who are leading the log on superior goals difference.
Finally, Defending NWFL champions Edo Queens bounced back from a 0-1 defeat to Remo Stars Ladies and their 1-1 draw against Rivers Angels to secure a much needed victory against Naija Ratels. Emem Essien's brace was the much-needed boost the Edo ladies needed for their first win of the Super Six showpiece.
Naija Ratels who are yet to secure a victory in the 2025 Super six could not find an answer for Essien in the first half as the first goal came in 26th minute, of action, while she recorded the second in 37th minute just before the half hour break
The NWFL table now sees Bayelsa Queens sitting top of the log with seven points as Nasarawa Amazons are not far behind as only goal difference separates the sides, meanwhile debutants Remo Stars Ladies are third with six points.
Edo Queens have four points from three games as Rivers Angels has only one point and it has been three defeats in three games for Naija Ratels who are placed bottom of the Super six table.
