Kitara FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa has expressed confidence that his side will secure a place in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final for the second year in a row.
The reigning champions were drawn against three-time winners Vipers SC in a two-legged semifinal tie, but Bbosa remains optimistic about overcoming the challenge.
“Both Vipers SC and Kitara FC are strong teams, but we shall plan accordingly for a side we know well. I promise the fans that we shall reach the final,” Bbosa stated.
Since replacing Brian Ssenyondo last year, Bbosa has continued Kitara’s rise in domestic competitions and now aims to guide the Royals to back-to-back Uganda Cup finals. Kitara eliminated Vipers at the quarterfinal stage last season on their way to lifting the Uganda Cup for the first time in the club's history.
In the other semifinal, KCCA FC, now under interim head coach Jackson Magera, will face FUFA Big League outfit Kataka FC. The Mbale-based side has already stunned two Uganda Premier League teams in URA FC and Police FC on their way to the semis.
According to the FUFA Competitions Department, the first leg matches will be played on May 3rd and 4th, with the return legs scheduled for May 17th and 18th.
