Former Algerian National Team coach Djamel Belmadi and the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) have yet to resolve their differences.

Belmadi has agreed to coach Qatari side Al Duhail as he prepares to return to work since leaving his position in 2023.

The FAF terminated Belmadi’s contract after a dreadful 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign. The AFCON-winning coach had a contract running until 2026, but the FAF opted not to continue with him.

According to La Gazette du Fennec, the FAF owes Belmadi 17 months of salary, which has become a source of disagreement.

Under the leadership of Walid Sadi, the FAF hoped that a three-month compensation payment would settle the issue. Nevertheless, the coach opted not to accept this settlement, and a potential court battle looms.

Algeria has since moved on, naming Vladimir Petković as their new coach, while Belmadi has returned to Qatar to take charge of Al Duhail.
