Nigerian Premier League outfit Bendel Insurance have named Greg Ikhenoba as the new head coach until the end of the season.
A statement from the club confirmed the appointment by saying: “The Executive Chairman,Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Amadin Enabulele has confirmed coach Greg Ikhenoba as the substantive Head Coach of Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin just as he announced the appointment of Austin Iyamu and Peter Obanor as the Technical Director and Team Manager of Bendel Insurance FC respectively.
“The Edo Sports State Sports Commission, in the same vein, also announced the appointment of Coach Rollanson Aituairi Odeh as the General Manager of Edo Queens FC among others in his strategic plans for the effective management of the two state owned clubs.”
The statement continued: “Others appointed by the Commission chairman Mr Idemudia Osigbemen as Insurance FC Scouting coach while Anthony Ipogah, is Edo Queens players’ scouting coach. Princess Omoyemwen Adeyinka Afolabi is the welfare officer of Edo Queens.”
The statement concluded: “Meanwhile, the Edo State Sports Commission has perfected plans to unveil the newly appointed coaches, team manager and players of Bendel Insurance FC on Tuesday, January 14,2025.The unveiling ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM at the New Festival Hall, Government House Benin City.”
Bendel Insurance FC ended the first round of the league on Tuesday, December 31,2024, in a barren draw away in Aba with Enyimba FC to Bendel insurance moved out of relegation zone and now standing in the 15th position with 21points from 19 games.
The coach ikhenoba-led Benin Arsenals will take on Enyimba FC in Match day 20 of the NPFL in a revised fixture when the second half of the season resumes on January 25, 2025, with their fans fully on ground after serving out the three match ban.
