The third matchday of the Benin Professional League wrapped up this weekend, marked by confirmations, slow starts, and a SOBEMAP FC side now firmly seated at the top of the table.
Away in Adjohoun, SOBEMAP delivered a controlled performance to defeat ASVO (2-0), a team still struggling to find its rhythm this season. With seven points and a +6 goal difference, the club has made an impressive start to the campaign and already stands out as one of the most consistent sides in the Beninese top flight.
In Cotonou, Buffles du Borgou bounced back with a solid 2-0 win over AS Cotonou at the Mathieu Kérékou Stadium annex. Damissa also confirmed its home strength with a 2-1 victory against Hodio. The much-anticipated clash between defending champions Dadjè FC and Dragons de l’Ouémé ended in a balanced 1-1 draw.
Elsewhere, JS Pobè and ASPAC shared the spoils (1-1), as did Ayéma and Coton FC (0-0). On Sunday, Dynamo d’Abomey grabbed their first win of the season, edging Espoir FC (1-0), while Bani Gansè and USS-Kraké produced a thrilling 2–2 draw.
After three rounds, SOBEMAP FC sit top of the standings with seven points and a superior goal difference. Chasing behind are Buffles, Damissa, Dragons, and Coton FC, all level on points. Meanwhile, defending champions Dadjè FC are still searching for the right balance to rediscover last season’s title winning form.
The fixture between Cavaliers of Nikki and Loto-Popo was postponed following an accident during Loto-Popo’s trip to Nikki. In a statement, the club confirmed that one of its players whose identity has not been disclosed was left in a coma as a result of the incident.
