Ghana Premier League: Benjamin Asare reacts to Hearts win

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has reacted to the club’s 1-0 victory over sworn rivals Asante Kotoko in their week 22 Ghana Premier League match at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in the presence of the entire Ghana Black Stars technical team.

The Ghana number one manned the post with composure, keeping the Porcupine Warriors at bay a number of times much to the ecstasy of the club’s travelling fans.

Hearts of Oak keep chase on leaders Medeama SC

Benjamin Asare said: “We have won but to be honest the league is very tough and our goal scoring ability is not encouraging but with this game, our determination was very high because we know Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are big clubs,” Benjamin Asare said.

Benjamin Asare added that the presence of Ghana’s senior technical team members at the stadium, gave him confidence to give his best against Kotoko.

“The coaches already know even though my performance at the Black Stars was good and we have qualified for the World Cup but there is more work to do.

“My performance in these games will make the technical team repose more confidence in me and so I thank all the technical team members, the supporters and the Ghana FA President for showing up at the Stadium.

Defender Baba Adamu’s solitary header in the 13 minutes proved to be the winner of the game, sending Hearts of Oak into second on the league table with 39 points, five behind leaders Medeama SC after 22 matches.
