Orlando Pirates icon Moeneeb Josephs has launched a scathing attack on Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako, accusing them of "betrayal" following their recent move to fierce rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

The duo reportedly joined Chiefs as free agents, with their contracts at Pirates set to expire at the end of June 2025.

Amakhosi wasted no time in securing Monyane and Mako, integrating them into Nasreddine Nabi’s squad for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

Mako, an experienced left-back, was a long-serving member of the Pirates squad, having joined from Chippa United in 2018. Over his seven seasons with the Sea Robbers, he made 173 appearances across all competitions.

Monyane, a talented right-back, came through the Pirates' development structures, earning a first-team promotion in the 2019/20 season. Both players tasted success at the Soweto giants, lifting trophies including the Nedbank Cup and MTN8.

While Monyane and Mako aim to reignite their careers at Chiefs, their cross-Soweto move has drawn sharp condemnation from former Pirates goalkeeper Josephs. He slammed the duo for bridging the divide between the Soweto Derby rivals.

“The boys these days go where there’s money. I wanted to make a video the other day and say thanks to the boys for everything, but I saw where they went [Chiefs],” Josephs stated on Soccer Beat. “I mean, these boys don’t have ambitions after crossing the road like that. The team on the yellow side will be posting our players. There’s no loyalty in this game anymore and pride for the badge anymore.”

Mako and Monyane are set to join the Glamour Boys on their pre-season tour to the Netherlands. Amakhosi resumed training on Friday, June 20,
