Betway Prem: Chippa on fire while Polokwane City stutter

It was a day of contrasting fortunes in the Betway Premiership as Chippa United continued their climb up the table, while Polokwane City FC and Siwelele FC played out a frustrating stalemate in Limpopo.

Chippa United made it three league wins on the bounce, dismantling Richards Bay FC 3-0 at a jubilant Buffalo City Stadium on Saturday night. The result extends Chippa’s unbeaten run to five matches and moves them further away from the dreaded drop zone.

After a cagey opening half-hour, the breakthrough came in stoppage time of the first half. Justice Figuareido’s dangerous cross was fumbled by Bay keeper Ian Otieno, allowing Sirgio Kammies to pounce and slot home from close range.

Richards Bay threatened an equaliser through Lindokuhle Zikhali, but the Chilli Boys remained ruthless.

In the 67th minute, substitute Somila Ntsundwana doubled the lead, finishing another excellent Figuareido delivery. And in the 79th minute, Sinoxolo Kwayiba put the result beyond doubt, pouncing on a disastrous back-pass to calmly finish past Otieno.

The win leaves Chippa in 12th place, now four points clear of the relegation playoff spot, while snapping Richards Bay’s five-game unbeaten streak.

Polokwane City 0-0 Siwelele: Betway Prem Winless Woes Continue

Over at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, the goals were non-existent as Polokwane City and Siwelele shared the spoils in a goalless draw. The result means both sides are still searching for their first victory of 2026.

Polokwane keeper Lindokuhle Mathebula was the star of the show, keeping his side in the hunt with a string of vital saves. He denied Chibuike Ohizu in the first half and produced a spectacular stop to keep out a Vincent Pule header in the second.

As a result, Polokwane City move up to 7th place but remain frustrated by their lack of clinical finishing. On the other hand, Siwelele sit in 11th place after remarkably recording their fourth consecutive draw.
