Marumo Gallants FC coach Dan Malesela has bemoaned his players’ wayward shooting in the goalless draw with Richards Bay at Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium in Free State on Saturday.
In a post-match interview after the Betway Premiership game, Malesela said his players were not composed enough in front of goal.
“Sometimes it is a question of execution. If we teach ourselves that when I am scoring what must I do? Sometimes just blasting the ball will not help because it will go anywhere, but if you are aiming at something, you will achieve something,” he told SuperSport.
Malesela admitted that Gallants, who are playing in the elite league of South Africa after buying Moroka Swallows Premiership status, need to reinforce the squad with new players in certain departments.
Richards Bay coach, Ronnie Gabriel, lauded his team’s defensive solidity, adding that upfront, his side created enough chances to score and win the game.
“The defence did a good job and we must commend them. The goals will come as we are creating a lot of chances. It is just a matter of time before the ball hits the back of the net. We have to keep trying,” he said.
The hosts went into the Betway Premiership match winless in three games and were hoping for the maximum points against the fellow relegation strugglers.
However, Gallants attackers were guilty of wastage as they shared the spoils with the visitors to remain in the relegation zone, placed in 13th place, two points ahead of Bay.
