Betway Premiership: Gallants secure an impressive away victory earning three points, shocking TS Galaxy

No Gabadinho, no problem for Marumo Gallants. After only winning one match away from home in league play this season, the Betway Premiership relegation battlers have now won back-to-back away fixtures after Sunday’s 2-1 victory at TS Galaxy.

The Gallants still had goals despite the absence of injured Malawian striker Gabadinho Mhango. Masindi Nemtajela scored within two minutes for the visitors before Daniel Msendami doubled the lead early in the second half for Gallants, who held off a late charge from hosts Galaxy.

Substitute striker Victor Letsoalo pulled one back for the Rockets in the 67th minute but the home side could not find another goal against the worst defense in South Africa’s top flight.

Elsewhere on Sunday, the early match saw Polokwane City put an end to a 7-match winless streak with a 3-1 win over Richards Bay. Richards Bay playmaker Justice Figuareido canceled out Lebohang Nkaki’s opening goal early in the scond half.

But Nkaki set up Mokibelo Ramabu’s go-ahead goal six minutes later before converting from the penalty spot to clinch victory for Polokwane City who put an end to their free fall on the table. The Limpopo club strengthen their hold on sixth place with the result.

Sunday’s other later match ended scoreless between SuperSport United and Cape Town City. Both clubs continue to struggle after recent managerial changes. On the hand Saturday’s late match where Magesi FC defeated Stellenbosch 1-0. Thabang Sibanyoni’s 70th minute goal confirmed a third consecutive victory for Magesi who are now in 11th place.
