Betway Premiership: Magesi win fourth straight to damage TS Galaxy’s CAF ambitions

Making their debut in South Africa’s top flight this season, Magesi FC continued to bolster their hopes of maintaining their Betway Premiership status with Sunday’s 2-1 victory over TS Galaxy at Seshego Stadium.

Delano Abrahams’ third league goal of the season put the hosts ahead for good early in the second half. Galaxy attacker Kamogelo Sebelebele previously canceled out an opening goal from Magesi midfielder John Managa Mokone.

There was plenty of entertainment for observers to enjoy with many opportunities for both teams. After a strong first half, Galaxy fell behind and were unable to get themselves back into the match despite a strong push to equalize. The defeat puts the Rockets further off the pace in the race for a top-3 position with Sekhukhune United and Stellenbosch FC.

For Magesi, their excellent form continues under coach Owen da Gama who continues a sharp reversal of fortune for the club after a disastrous first half of the league campaign. Magesi are now six points clear of the relegation playoff position in 11th place and will look to continue running away from a congested battle to avoid the drop.
