Mamelodi Sundowns striker Lebo Modiba has explained why they are prepared for ‘anything’ from Magesi FC in Sunday’s top-flight league match of South Africa.
The former South African international cited Magesi’s direct play and strong attackers as among the challenges the Betway Premiership holders should expect to deal with.
“We saw how Magesi play. Their style of play is more direct, with more long balls and strong strikers, so we are prepared for anything. We have been working really hard in training, and I feel that we are all ready for Sunday’s game,” Modiba told the club’s media.
Meanwhile, Magesi coach John Maduka expects his side to come back from the FIFA international break much improved as they chase for their first league win of this campaign.
Magesi, who are also called Dikwena Tša Meetse, played five league games that produced three draws and two defeats as of August 31, 2025.
In view of this, Maduka said his technical panel made the most of the international window to work behind the scenes to focus on specific areas.
“The usage of the ball has tremendously improved. So, in this break, it would help us to master that but also master those movements in the final third to be able to finish when we’ve got those chances,” he added.
The last game for Dikwena Tša Meetse was against AmaZulu FC and ended one-all, a result that gave the coach hope for better things to come.
Maduka was particularly happy that his team showed character to rise from the dead and force the draw during the AmaZulu match.
Magesi have a tight and tough schedule ahead starting off with Sundowns this Sunday followed by meetings with Orlando Pirates (17 September, away), Siwelele FC (20 September, home), Richards Bay (24 September, away), and Durban City [27 September, away].
