TS Galaxy FC have made coaching changes with former Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker promoted to the assistant coach role at the Betway Premiership side.
TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic confirmed to South African online publication, FARPost, that Parker has been promoted from the reserve team head coach post to the senior team role.
The 39-year-old was Kaizer Chiefs skipper for many years and left the team to wind down his career at TS Galaxy. He then ventured into coaching.
“Bernard Parker is a big name in South African football, a Bafana Bafana player and also played in Europe,” Beganovic told FARPost.
“He finished his career at TS Galaxy and worked with the DDC, and I think he deserved his chance. So he is the assistant coach with us, and let’s see what the future will bring.”
Parker has replaced Vuyo Mere, who has reportedly left the Betway Premiership team. The reasons for the exit of the former Platinum Stars defender are unclear. Galaxy are in fifth place on the Betway Premiership log table, 22 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
