Betway Premiership: Zwane seeks to reverse worrying TS Galaxy trend

AmaZulu FC coach Arthur Zwane has highlighted a worrying trend he hopes to reverse when meeting fellow South African side TS Galaxy on Sunday.

Usuthu will go into the Betway Premiership encounter at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban winless in five straight games against the Rockets.

Zwane admitted that his side has been playing second fiddle to Galaxy. This trend includes three consecutive defeats to the opponents in the recent back-to-back meetings.

“For the past three games, they [TS Galaxy] have been victorious,” the coach told AmaZulu website.

“We are looking to turn things around. If we continue where we left off at the end of 2025, we will be able to compete and change that narrative.”

Zwane’s team finished 2025 on a high after overcoming Durban City rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows 1-0.

The former Chiefs coach hopes his side can build on the momentum from the year 2025, taking advantage of the Africa Cup of Nations-induced break.

“I think the break, on our side, we needed it,” the coach explained.

“Having a new team and trying to blend in youngsters wasn’t going to be an easy job, hence we were blowing hot and cold. The congested fixture list made it difficult to find consistency while dealing with so many injuries.”

AmaZulu sit in sixth place on the log table, at par on 24 points with Galaxy.

Victory over Galaxy would see AmaZulu, with a game in hand, going level on points with third-placed Kaizer Chiefs in the standings.
